Vaccination walk-in clinics
Information about vaccination walk-in clinics operating in Kent and Medway is now available on the Kent and Medway CCG website. It is updated regularly.
People who wish to use these clinics do not need an appointment and they are open to everyone over 18. Both first and second doses are available unless stated.
Acceleration of Second Doses for all Cohorts
From Monday 5th July second does vaccinations will be brought forward from 12 to eight weeks for the remaining people in all cohorts.
COVID Vaccination Update
From Monday 21st June all COVID vaccinations at Dover Health Centre and Folkestone Folca Vaccination Centre will only be bookable via the National Booking System online by visiting https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ or by telephoning 119.
Patients will be able to book their 1st and 2nd vaccinations at the same time.
Patients who have already had their 1st vaccination will need to book their 2nd vaccination 8 weeks from when they had their first. They will not receive a text message reminder.

Demonstrating your COVID vaccination status with NHS COVID Pass
From 17 May 2021, people in England who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can demonstrate their vaccination status for international travel. A full course is currently two doses of the Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccine, or one dose of the Janssen single-dose vaccine. Vaccine status will be available through the NHS COVID Pass service from:
- the NHS App which you can download from app stores
- the NHS website
- 119 - by requesting a paper letter
You will need to register to use the online services, if you have not already. It may take more than a week for your identity to be checked and verified.
If you cannot access the online services, and you have had both doses of the vaccine, you can request a paper letter from the NHS by calling 119. Only call 119 if you are due to travel outside the UK in the near future and have had your second dose (or one dose of the Janssen single-dose vaccine) more than 5 working days ago. It may take up to 7 working days for the letter to arrive.
This practice is not able to provide you with a letter that shows your COVID-19 vaccination status. Please do not contact the practice about your COVID-19 vaccination status unless you have been advised to by the 119 service.
When you're planning your travel, you should check the latest information on demonstrating your COVID-19 status when travelling abroad on the gov.uk website. Make sure there is enough time to get proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status before you are due to travel.

We are pleased to announce that Channel Health Alliance, are now offering the second dose Covid-19 Vaccination to any patient who had their first vaccination in January, and patients should have received a text invite with a booking link.

Patients cannot choose which Covid-19 vaccination to have. However, if you are pregnant or under 30 years old and are in an eligible cohort, you will need to have a Pfizer vaccination.
Patients should attend the same vaccination site for their first and second doses of the Covid-19 vaccination. However, if a patient books a second dose at a local vaccination site, and they had their first at a large vaccination site, there is no automatic cancellation of their appointment with the large site. Patients need to cancel their appointment on the national booking system so their slot can be offered to another person.

Vaccinations for carers who are unpaid and unrecorded
Unpaid carers who are not recorded as a Carer on a GP, government or Carer organisation system can no longer self-refer for a vaccine on the national booking system (NBS).
If you are an unpaid Carer please let the surgery know so this can be added to your medical records. Your GP will assess if you meet the criteria for the vaccine.
Carers who have already used the NBS system can still book their second vaccination using the same system.
Covid-19 vaccination information for patients registered at Balmoral Surgery
Covid-19 vaccinations for our patients will be delivered from Dover Health Centre by Channel Health Alliance from 14 January 2021. Channel Health Alliance is a collaborative federation of 28 GP practices within Kent & Medway CCG.
There will be home visits for housebound patients. We are inviting patients based on the national priority list. Please be patient and wait to be contacted about when the vaccine is available for you.
You do not need to contact the surgery. You will receive a letter, text or phone call about getting the Covid-19 vaccine.

Why is the vaccine not available from our own surgery?
Across the country GPs are working in groups of practices to provide the Covid-19 vaccine. We understand the people would like to get the vaccine from their own practice but unfortunately this is not possible at this time. If this changes we will update this information.
Should I come for a vaccine if I have symptoms of Covid-19?
No. If you or someone in your immediate household has symptoms of the virus it is essential that you self-isolate and book a test. Your vaccine can be re-arranged after your self-isolation.
If I’ve had Covid-19 do I need the vaccines?
Yes, getting vaccinated is just as important for those who have already had Covid-19 as it is for those who haven’t.
How soon after having Covid-19 can I have the vaccine?
It is recommended that people wait 4 weeks after recovering from Covid-19 or from being tested positive but not experiencing symptoms. We will rearrange invitations if you are in this situation when first invited to have the vaccine.
When will the second dose be given?
From 30 December the national guidance changed and second doses will now be scheduled for 10-12 weeks after the first dose.
Can I pay for the vaccines privately?
No, all Covid-19 vaccines are being provided free by the NHS. If you see any offers to get the vaccine privately it will be a scam and you must not contact them.
